  • Leben in der Region Amberg-Weiden – Wie gefällt es Ihnen hier?

    Liebe Studierende,

    Sie haben sich für die OTH Amberg-Weiden entschieden und damit für ein Studium in einer ländlichen Region. Wie gefällt es Ihnen, hier zu leben? Wo sehen Sie Verbesserungsbedarf? Unter welchen Bedingungen möchten Sie nach Abschluss Ihres Studiums in der Region bleiben? Und wo möchten Sie sich vielleicht selbst einbringen, um die Region (noch) zukunftsfester zu machen?

    Diese Fragen untersucht die Technische Hochschule Nürnberg, Kompetenzzentrum KoSIMA mit einer Befragung von Studierenden in ländlichen Regionen. Wir unterstützen diese Befragung und laden Sie herzlich ein, daran teilzunehmen.

    Machen Sie mit und nutzen Sie die Chance, Ihre Perspektiven einzubringen!

    Die Teilnahme dauert ca. 15 Minuten und ist selbstverständlich freiwillig.
    Sie können vom 27.05. bis zum 16.06.  an der Befragung teilnehmen.

    Die Ergebnisse werden im Herbst 2024 im Rahmen einer Veranstaltung vorgestellt und mit interessierten Studierenden diskutiert.

    Es gibt auch etwas zu gewinnen: Unter den Teilnehmern der Befragung werden 20 Stadtgeld-Gutscheine (wahlweise Amberg oder Weiden) im Wert von jeweils 10 € verlost!

    Please note: the OTH libraries in Amberg and Weiden are closed on Friday, May 31 (lecture-free day).

    Access to the 24h library is of course possible for activated students and employees of the university.

    We will reopen regularly on Monday, June 3rd at 8 a.m. (Weiden) and 9 a.m. (Amberg).

  • Statement on the future of the semester ticket

    Dear students,

    You may have already heard that the semester ticket at OTH Amberg-Weiden will expire at the end of the 2024 summer semester and will not be continued.

    As your student representatives, we campaigned last year for the introduction of an affordable and lucrative semester ticket at OTH Amberg-Weiden. We were fully aware that this was a controversial and polarising topic. Nevertheless, we believe that we have achieved the goals we set ourselves with the semester ticket.

    Why is the ticket not being continued now?

    In the long term, the ticket should be expanded to offer you more attractive routes. This year, we started negotiations with the transport companies to improve the service for you at a comparable price level. Unfortunately, we had to realise that some transport companies showed little interest in the negotiations.

    The ticket should be continued in its current form. The price of the ticket was to be increased by almost 7% while the services remained the same. On the one hand, this was not satisfactory for us and on the other hand, we could not justify this to you with a clear conscience. After initial talks with no progress, we decided not to continue the negotiations and decided against continuing the ticket beyond the current summer semester.

    If you have any questions about this, you can contact your representatives in the student council at any time.

    Regulations for exams for this Summer semester 2024

    Dear students,

    the registration period has started today. Therefore, we would like to inform you about the current regulations for exam registration for this summer semester 2024.

    The following should therefore be noted:

    • In order to sit an exam you must register for it during the registration period.
    • After this period, it is no longer possible to register or deregister via the online portal.
    • You must also register for repeat examinations, as well as for coursework, assessments, projects, etc. (see study and examination regulations in the PRIMUSS portal > homepage below). (see study and examination regulations in the PRIMUSS portal > homepage at the bottom).
    • Every exam graded with a "5" (failed) counts.
    • Deadlines count. If a deadline for taking an examination is not met, the exam will be graded with a "5" (failed).
    • Registration for an examination is binding. Failure to appear will therefore result in a "5" (failed).
    • If you are unable to attend an examination, you must submit a medical certificate (please use the sick leave/inability to take exams form, which you will find on your online portal).
    • If you repeatedly fail to attend an examination, you must submit a special medical certificate (please contact the Examinations Office in the Students´ Office. There you will receive a form to request a medical examination).
    • If you do not register for an exam you will not receive a grade for it and must sit the exam again.

    Please read these regulations carefully and adhere to them.

    Wer steht überhaupt zur Wahl? Schau dir jetzt die Listen und die Steckbriefe an!

    Wie jeden Sommer steht auch jetzt wieder die Hochschulwahl an, die per Online-System stattfindet. Ein paar Tage vor dem Wahltermin bekommt jeder eine Email mit Zugangslink und Zugangsdaten und kann dann vom 4.-7. Juni ganz entspannt vom Handy oder von Zuhause wählen.

    Aber wen oder was überhaupt?
    Es werden die Gremien der Studierendenvertretung gewählt. Also welche Studis dich im Senat, Studentischen Konvent und den Fakultätsräten vertreten. Was das alles genau ist, kannst du hier nachlesen oder ein Augen auf unsere Instagram Accounts halten.

    Der Workshop findet online auf Deutsch statt am 27.05.24 von 13.00 - 20.15 Uhr.

    Wir gestalten gemeinsam die Hochschulpolitik mit, organisieren Veranstaltungen, kümmern uns um die Campusgestaltung und PR. Jede*r Studierende kann bei der fakultätsangehörenden Fachschaft, dem studentischen Konvent oder dem Senat mitwirken. Ein Engagement in diesen Gremien bietet nicht nur Einblicke hinter die Kulissen der Hochschule, sondern auch Spaß und eine Menge neuer Kontakte. 🏛️

Then subscribe to the new categories we have set up for you on the noticeboard. We have also attached an overview of advice and support services at the university for you.

    Welcome back to the summer semester! We hope you had a good first week. We would like to share some information with you at the start of the new semester:

    1. In the attachment you will  find an overview of the various counseling and support services at the university, which you may already have learned about through other channels. If you receive an email from us in the next week regarding the progress of your studies, please don't be alarmed. However, you are more than welcome to make an appointment with us for a consultation - together we will certainly find a way to make the coming semester better for you.

    2. we would also like to briefly introduce you to some categories on the notice board, which you are welcome to subscribe to if you would like to get information about our offers and events:

    Scholarships: Here we provide information about current scholarship announcements, the application periods for the Deutschlandstipendium and planned information events on student financing. If you subscribe to this category, you will never miss an event.

    Study-related course offerings: We regularly organize various additional courses for you, e.g. from the field of soft skills or an event week on application. If you want to stay up to date, subscribe to this category.

    Events/ University Sports: This category provides you with information on events (at the university and beyond) that might be of interest to you as well as on sporting activities, e.g. the annual participation in the Nofi run.

    !!! The Study and Career Service will no longer use the old category "All around studies" in the future, as the new categories can be subscribed to more specifically depending on your interests. So you will get exactly the information you are interested in!!!

  • Going abroad? Appointments for DAAD Language tests

    If you have never attended and passed a language course at our OTH Amberg-Weiden or another university, our language centre offers the possibility to sit an English test twice per semester. Please not that these tests have no Credit Points and are only intended to help you realise a stay abroad (i.e. Erasmus).

    The date for the DAAD English language test in the upcoming summer semester 2024 is:

    • Wed., 27.03.2024 in Amberg from 9.00 Uhr room MB/UT E 024 and
    • Thu.,  25.04.2024 in Weiden from 10.00 Uhr room WTC 1.29

    Please enrol via email for one of these tests.

    Dear students,

    please note that renewed verification is now required to continue purchasing a discounted Deutschlandticket.

    You can carry out the verification in your app as follows:

    1. click on Settings (top right-hand corner; shown as a cogwheel)

    2. click on "Proof of authorisation"

    3. select "OTH Weiden-Amberg"

    4. start the verification process via Shibboleth with your OTH e-mail address

    5. the discounted ticket will be offered for purchase under the "Tickets" tab after successful verification

    6. select the ticket by clicking on it, enter your payment details and swipe the "Buy now" button to the right.
